James D. Bowman Jr., 65, of Martinsburg, W.Va., formerly of Damascus, died of Leukemia on June 26, 2009.

Born June 16, 1944, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late James D. Bowman Sr. and Ethel Bowman.

He was the husband of Lois Bowman for 24 years.

Mr. Bowman was a 1962 graduate of Gaithersburg High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Bernadine M. Taylor of Bowling Green, Va.; six stepchildren, Mary Jane Raines of Damascus, John Hynes Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va., Tina Meyer of Cumberland, Margaret Hynes of Rockville, Jeffery Hynes Sr. of Martinsburg and Tanja Christian of Caroline County, Va.; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday in West Virginia.
