John D. Timms, 48, of Cheltenham died June 22 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Timms was born May 20, 1961, in Gastonia, N.C. He served for 13 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a technical sergeant, and worked as a lobbyist.

Mr. Timms is preceded in death by his father, Joseph B. Timms.

He is survived by his mother, Penny T. Guthrie, and his wife, Josephine M. Timms. He is also survived by daughters Sarah Harris, Megan Timms and Emily Timms; sisters Penny Tenoschock, Nancy Connaughton and Anne Wetherill; and brothers Charles Walton, William Timms and Joseph Timms. He is also survived by grandchildren William, Brian, Katelyn and David Harris.

Services were held Tuesday at Victory Chapel in Accokeek, where Mr. Timms attended, with Pastors Pat Bujarski and Kevin Ross, with burial at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham.
