Shame on county if ambulance fee is approved

In addition to all the excellent points made in County Councilman Philip Andrews' commentary ("Ambulance fees: Do not resuscitate," Nov. 12), with people losing their jobs, along with their employer-sponsored health insurance coverage, now (if ever) is not the time to propose charging ambulance fees.
Suppose your 50-something brother from Michigan, who recently lost his job due to the automotive industry crisis, suffers severe chest pain during a visit. There's no insurance company for the county to bill, no Medicare either.
I don't care what other jurisdictions do. Shame on Montgomery County if ambulance fees should pass.
