The Tantallon Square subdivision is a peaceful, quiet area filled with friendly walkers and joggers and mostly split-level, all-brick homes with nicely landscaped yards, much like the one at 11709 Hickory Drive.
This four-level house has a two-car garage and two bonus rooms that were added onto the main floor.
It has a bay window and hardwood ceiling. The other bonus room is a cozy, relaxing sun room with a skylight in the ceiling and large, wide open windows along each wall that offer views of the tranquil, serene backyard.
The outside of the house is of particular note. In front are oversized steps lined with a white rail that curve up to the porch.
At the edge is an attractive three-tiered landscaped creation of rows of semi-circle bricks topped with rock accents.
The extensive landscaping continues to the backyard retreat, where tall oak trees with colorful autumn leaves tower over rolling hills of lush green grass.
The highlights, though, are the stone and brick walkways and three charming hand-constructed mini wooden bridges spaced apart from each other, each forming arching walkways over a narrow trail lined with varying-sized stones that runs through the yard.
Two storage sheds also are behind the house.
Also on the main floor inside are a living room with a bricked wood-burning fireplace and a kitchen with upgraded appliances, mocha-colored cabinets and Corian countertops – a portion of which doubles as additional eating space with bar stools.
There's a separate dining area.
Ceiling fans and closets with mirrored sliding doors are in each of the bedrooms, which are all on the top floor.
The hallway bathroom has yellow and white tile and a yellow bathtub with glass doors.
The roomy master bedroom's master bathroom features a modern three-piece lighting fixture above the sink and mirror and has a shower with sliding doors.
The hallway and one of the bedrooms have exposed hardwood floors; the other bedrooms are carpeted.
One floor below the main level are a small carpeted office area with a door that leads to the garage, a spacious laundry room, half bath and an exit to the backyard.
Carpeted stairs lead to the basement where the roomy main room has a brick fireplace with mantel.
Another spacious room houses the furnace and a large closet at the end of the hall provides ample storage space.
